Toshiba Regza 42XV635DB LCD TV

toshiba-regza-42xv635db-lcd-tvThe Toshiba Regza 42XV635DB 42” LCD TV is the first one with a glossy black attire that managed to impress me. I've always been an ardent hater of the clichéd black finishes that border on plasticity and this TV showed even the usual black in a new light. Come to think of it, it's the stand that attracted me the most. Curved inward elegantly, it gives the TV a touch of class. The edges aren't all that sharp, but are slightly angled, which adds on to the aesthetics. This is one swell 42 incher that could make our living room proud! With the 42XV635, its all about features. There are way too many that one wonders if its too much for the price! The unsuccessful Resolution+ is present, and so is Toshiba's Meta Brain that the TV cannot do without. The Toshiba Regza 42XV635DB HD-Ready LCD TV sports a 1920x1080p resolution, so no matter what the resolution of the source is, the TV renders it with full HD clarity. The TV sports a dynamic contrast ratio of 50000:1 and houses yet another of Toshiba's processing technology, Active Vision M100HD Pro. This technology, coupled with 100hz engine, takes motion to the highest extents of seamlessness. Another appreciable aspect about the 42XV635DB is its Game Mode. Plug in your Xbox and turn this on to be taken to a whole new world. Scenes with vibrant colours are rendered effectively, but it can't be denied that colours lack the lusture that catches one's attention. Skin tones have a weedy look about them, and the brightest of shades tend to look a little too overt. Connectivity is promising with 4 HDMIs and the usual affair of 2 SCARTs, a PC input and a USB slot. Verdict: The Toshiba Regza 42XV635DB has a lot to offer in terms of the design and picture. It could just about be the perfect package, had it not been for the few issues with colours and brightness.
