Toshiba 42LX196 LCD TV is quite ideal for 1080 high definition content like DVD or HDTV broadcast. While there is a fierce competition in the 42” LCD TV market, Toshiba certainly finds its place among the top LCD TVs in this category. The HDTV specs of this LCD TV is the high-lighting feature which impresses you right from the beginning. Another compelling feature of this LCD is its capability to produce more shades of gray and levels of color, resulting in a picture that is cleaner and more natural. So far we have seen, this unit is one of the best LCD TVs that is ideal for a home theater as this LCD has response time of 8 ms or less. Main Features:

Toshiba uses its unique PixelPure Hi-Bit Digital Video Processing technology which offers excellent shades of colour and makes the pictures look crisp clear and more natural as it uses 12-bits for 4,096 levels of gradation which is 16 times that of standard 8-bit systems. This unit has a special feature called native mode which restores the size of the picture by nearly 5 percent which is usually lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs on traditional sets. Similarly the unnecessary scaling of 1920 x 1080 HD signals when displayed on the other REGZA series 1080p Full HD LCD televisions has been fully avoided in this unit. This unit has a unique way of adjusting hue, saturation and colour brightness of the pictures by an inbuilt six presets which enhances the depth, naturalness and realism of the pictures. The black levels are quite comparable with those of other high end LCD TVs of 42” LCD category. The Interactive Program Guide (IPG) provided in this unit is so convenient to use and provides you an easy way to read the 8-day program listing and record the materials directly to DVD or HDD. When you record television programs, you can see that the name of the show and the channel and date are also recorded. Although the speaker design is so thin, this unit is able to produce enhanced dynamic range of sound effects. The SRS TruBass and 3D sound-expanding systems offer superior sound quality with three dimensional highs and lows. In fact, we are enthralled by the sound quality of just two speakers and never feel the requirement of multi-speaker surround sound system.
