Sony has come up with its offer for Christmas. Sony has wavered off the VAT price on all its products that includes all the models in its LCD television segment as well. The VAT amount is almost 15% of its purchase price. This offer is valid to all the purchases made from Sony till the 24th of December 2010.
What you need to do
One may not get the VAT-off offer at the time of purchase. After your purchase, you have to fill in the claim form given by Sony. Make note of the serial number of your product which should be furnished in the claim form. This should be sent along with the original bill and the warranty card. Within 28 days of the receipt, a cheque will be sent to you for the VAT-off amount.
VAT Calculation
Suppose, you buy a product for £X, divide X by 1.175 that gives you the net price. Retail price - net price gives you the saving on VAT.
Lets say the product is £100. So net price = 100/1.175 = 85. 106. Now Vat savings it 100-85.106 = 14.894. Rounded off 15%. Sony's VAT-off offer is a 15% discount on all its products.
