Sony Bravia KDL-37W5710 LCD TV

sony-bravia-kdl-37w5710The Sony Bravia KDL-37W5710 37” LCD TV is nothing special, but it's not ordinary either. A typical 37 incher from Sony, we set about examining this TV with not much of expectations – how different can it be from Sony's other offerings? This LCD TV looks pretty average to my eyes. But that's just to my eyes, let me remind you that it's rather critical. The design is all about gloss, gloss and more gloss. Oh well, this is no 'Design TV', but an 'Eco' one. So let's not grill the looks. As far as performance is concerned, this Sony LCD TV does well. Sporting a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50000:1, pictures in the screens of the KDL-37W5710 breeze through with ease. Black levels in particular are deep enough to please the eye, an aspect which lets you ignore the minor glitches when it comes to Freeview. Motionflow 100Hz ensures that fast moving pictures move across seamlessly, hardly can you notice any flickering around the edges. Though far from resembling a picture frame, this Full HD LCD TV sports a picture frame mode, so you can convert it into a digital picture frame, an awkward one at that. Also featured is Sony's advanced Bravia Engine 3, a technology that works on picture noise and low contrast images, giving them a much needed boost. Colours are absolutely natural and are a treat to the senses. Furthermore, another area where the KDL-37W5710 shines is the rendition of movies. With 24p True Cinema and a few tweaks of the Scene Select options, you can be sure to experience movies like never before. Overall a good performer, but again, it's the high price that could keep some away.
