The Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803 40” LCD TV is one of those TVs that you'll want to possess no matter what. Sigh! The hours we spent with this LCD TV were simply marvelous – we were treated with seamless pictures that seemed to flow like some serene waterfall. Freeview HD was that which captured our interest in the first place – the reception was excellent and there were zero source noise. As part of Sony's Network range of LCD TVs, the KDL-40NX803 is provided with some excellent connectivity options. It's Wi-Fi-enabled, giving you quite a lot to play with; lets you access BRAVIA Internet Video and Internet Widgets and has 4 HDMIs and a USB 2.0 Input, apart from the usual affair of a D-Sub port, composite and component inputs. The KDL-40NX803 is backlit by LEDs placed at the edges, the result of which it's extraordinarily thin. Well, one can talk about the TV's 'Monolithic' design for hours on end – it's that magnificent. The black level problem that seemed to taunt many of Sony's previous tellies has significantly gone down, scenes that have a dark background make for some excellent viewing. Sony says the deep black panel is designed to reduce glare in bright rooms – but when all the lights in a room are switched on, the screen does tend to reflect off light. Of our entire experience with the Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803, its rendition of action movies that it seemed to enjoy most. It looks like the presence of motionflow 200Hz technology instilled more confidence in it. Verdict: At £1,600, the Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803 could make your savings thin out quite a lot. But it does have a rich set of features to make up for it, though. But you might want to consider some of Samsung LED TV line-ups before you make up your mind.
