It is one of the handful screens with the highest display resolution possible, 1920 x 1080 pixels. The HD technology incorporated in this flat panel includes 1080p Full HD. Another exciting feature is that LC42B20E is HD Ready. The wall mountable TV has built-in Teletext, and has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The response time of this TV is 4ms, and the contrast ratio is as high as 2000:1. The brightness of this LCD TV is 450 Cd/m2. Another highlight of this LCD is the availability of three HDMI inputs. The captivating looks facilitated by the Slimline design and the curvy ‘lips’ with a silver lining spice up the looks. The power,  menu, volume and channel control buttons are all hidden out of sight skillfully in the front panel. 1:1 mapping mode is a feature that ensures better image rendition.

Sharp LC42B20E 42” LCD TV has both analogue and digital AV inputs. Connectivity of this TV is superior with two SCART inputs, component video, stereo audio jacks, three HDMIs, a VGA/PC interface and S-Video/Composite inputs with necessary audio jacks. Out of the three HDMI inputs, two are in the rear position and one is in the side of the telly which is a much appreciated feature. The user friendly on-screen menu has drop down menus from the top of the panel than the chunky boxes in the middle of the screen. Dynamic contrast features of this sharp LCD adjusts the backlight brightness to enhance the contrast of the pictures. This Sharp LCD TV offers five different colour temperature settings, but for an uncalibrated display, each one of the settings has a blue tint. In action mode, flickers are comparatively present, but the motion blur is quite low. Optional motion interpolation of this screen is optimized enough to retain the naturality.

Furthermore, you cannot skip a page or two amidst and go for your choice. You have to be patient enough to scroll down and each press takes a delay of 2ms. The best part of sharp LC42B20E’s EPG is that it is crisp. At times you may get a subtle screeching noise in this TV. The colour performance of sharp is fairly good with excellent reds and blues, although the green is over saturated. The Operational power consumption of this display is 109 Watts and the standby power is just 1 Watt. Blu-ray discs and 24p signals are dealt adeptly in this screen. One of the most exciting fact is that there was no input lags. Surprisingly, there was no telecine judder while feeding 24p signals. Freeview is one of the most appreciated feature in this TV. This screen is incredible as a gaming console too. Swivel TV stand is another exciting feature which gives user the luxury to change the position of TV with a single touch in remote. The downsides include slow EPG, maddening calibration procedure and banding in the display. Despite of all these, to be brief, this is a recommendable telly with fairly good performance.
