For an under £200 small-screen LCD TV, the Samsung LE22B450 is a definite stunner. It's one of those tellies that you can buy with your eyes closed – such is the performance. Samsung has roped in everything it could for the price – and that includes the
HDMI port at the back, high dynamic contrast ratio, Anynet + and Wide Colour Enhancer 2. The
Samsung LE22B450 22” LCD TV does not look stunning enough for you to go gaga over it – The bezel looks a little plasticity, but with the curvy bottom edge and the glassy red border, it begs to differ.
The
Samsung LE22B450 LCD TV has a display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is about 557.8mm wide. The TV swept us away with it's brilliant pictures that are unlike that of any 22 incher. Of course, it did expose some flaws. The classic LCD problem of black levels is one of them. When you tend to view the picture from an angle, say about 40 of 50 degrees, blacks can look washed out and grey – making pictures a nightmare if viewed from an angle.
Colours however, are refreshing. Samsung's 3D color stretching technology does the trick here. We tried out 'Heidi' and were spell bound by the play of colours on screen – fresh greens and bright yellows were brilliant. This
Samsung LCD TV also comes with an 'Energy Saving Mode', which when turned on, optimizes the backlight giving you neat pictures while consuming less energy.
Verdict
The Samsung LE22B450 is a safe bet – you can mount it in your kitchen or living room and live life carefree, basking in Samsung's excellence for many years to come.
