Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D LCD TV and
Samsung LE40A656 LCD TV are 2 among the leading LCD TVs in the market today. Here is a brief comparison between the two.


Place both these LCD TVs side by side to compare their looks and you will find them both impressive in their own ways. Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D has a thin black bezel surrounding the LCD panel, which makes the overall size of the TV relatively small. However this TV is not very suitable to mount on the wall. On the other hand, Samsung LE40A656 with its Crystal design has a “Rose black” bezel, which is black, bordered by dark red and the colours merge into each other inward, gradually. Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D offers a set of connections which include a composite signal input, an S-Video input, 2 RGB Scart inputs, a component video input, a VGA input and 3 HDMI CEC connections. Samsung LE40A656 too offers a similar set of connections, apart from which, it has an extra HDMI input, making a total of 4
HDMI connections, and a USB port. Both TVs support HDCP and are Sky box compatible.
Taking a look at the audio systems of the 2 TVs, Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D is equipped with stereo type speakers with SRS WOW and bass boost technologies. Samsung LE40A656 too offers stereo speakers but with SRS Trusurround technology. Both TVs do seem to perform well on the audio front.
Coming to the much awaited performance details, we have Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D using the 5:5 pulldown mode with a 120Hz panel, which reduces flicker and gives smooth motion pictures. Both HD as well as SD performances are excellent with great black levels. Samsung LE40A656 follows closely with 1080p/24 and 100Hz picture processing. This LCD TV too is a great HD performer. The SD performance is fine too. Black levels are really good as well. Playing games on the Samsung LE40A656 would definitly keep the players glued to the TV for a long time.
