How the Samsung LE40B652 LCD TV found its way into Tiffany’s living room

For, not only do I get to gobble down an entire fridge load of food (which would not have been possible had I opted to dine out), I also get to go through the “Samsung experience” that most of my friends have been talking about. Yes, one of my friends, who also happens to be in the receiving end of all my envious sighs, got the Samsung LE40B652 as a Christmas present and she’s all praise for it.

“You must watch the Twilight Saga on Blu-Ray girl” she’ll start and go on to talk about how sharp the pictures of the TV are. “Man the TV is one heck of a masterpiece..” is her favourite line these days. Though I secretly hoped that the TV breaks down to pieces or at least is possessed by some evil spirit so she stops strangling us with the minutest details of how good it is, I very badly wanted to get to see it up close. So here I was, visiting her during a feigned spell of flu. The first thing that my eyes caught on its first span across her living room was this beautiful black piece of glass mounted on the wall, and I did a second take to realise what it was.

From then on, all I remember is staring at the TV, admiring it’s smoothness, both on-screen and off-screen. Let me take you through it. We first watched some Freeview, the quality of which was superb. We then plugged in a Blu-Ray player  (we used the side HDMI port; there were three more in the rear.) and settled for a classic, Casablanca.  (She actually had the Blu-Ray!)

For the first time in my life, the movie actually interested me. A few minutes into it, I realised that it was the TV’s doing. The different shades of blacks, greys and whites were so nicely detailed – never have I seen black and white movies of such depth! We did get bored later on and switched to X-Factor, though. Colours, I have to mention are so life-like and pleasant. The LE40B652 handles audio pretty well too – but that’s not as good as the pictures. I was somehow left wanting for more in that aspect. So, I left home to my pathetic 28” LCD TV with a heavy heart. But hey, I’ve ordered the exact model - the Samsung LE40B652 Full HD LCD TV to be delivered home. (I did spend a fortune!) And am waiting for it to arrive. There, I see a truck trundling towards our house. Adieu!
