Philips 46PFL9704H/12 LCD TV

Philips 46PFL9704H/12An LCD from Philips on my work table is enough to lift me from even the gloomiest of moods. Rubbing my hands in glee, I set forth to study the Philips 46PFL9704H/12 46” LCD TV. As was the case with the previous Philips LCD TVs that crossed my path, the design of this LCD TV had me drooling over it. You have to hand it to Philips – it’s the best manufacturer in the market when it comes to classy design. For just this, the 46PFL9704H/12 could have a lot of takers indeed. And in case you’re one of them, you have done the right thing. It’s not everyday that you come across a TV that looks eye-popping and functions well too.

For starters, the Philips 46PFL9704H/12 HD-Ready LCD TV has an LED Pro backlight system that uses over 1000 LED lights which are dimmed or brightened according to the scene being played. The dynamic contrast ratio is quoted to be a massive 5000000:1 and the display resolution is an obvious 1920 x 1080p. “Stunning picture with extreme contrast, sharpness and vibrant colour” is how Philips puts the picture quality and it’s true, if only partially. We say so because, when you turn on the dynamic backlighting, even greys appear to be too dark and whites appear to be annoyingly overt. Though not all that prominent, this aspect could get to some.

The 46PFL9704H/12 is so loaded with several aspects that take the picture quality to a whole new level. Perfect Natural Motion for one, renders such seamless motion and our all-time favourite Ambilight Spectra 3 shines in all its glory. Audio however is a surprise package. In an area where most LCD TVs suffer, the 46PFL9704H/12 excels. When such brilliant audio and pictures go together, you can imagine the quality of viewing experience the viewer will get to enjoy. How tiptop can you get?
