Philips 42PFL7404 LCD TV

philips-lcdtvreviews.org.ukHaving been bowled over by the 42PFL8404, it indeed was exciting to turn the spot light on the Philips 42PFL7404 42” LCD TV.  But it must be said that it was rather unfair of me to expect the 42PFL7404 to perform as well as the 42PFL8404. One can crudely argue that  42PFL8404, which is much more expensive will obviously beat the 42PFL7404. But the answer folks, is not a straight yes. To start off with the picture quality, the 42PFL7404's is orderly and enjoyable. High Definition is most brilliant, for a TV of this price, why  am I stunned? Detailed and faithful, Blu-ray should also be appreciated. The Philips 42PFL7404 Full HD LCD TV has Pixel Precise HD to enhance the sharpness of the pictures and I must say: Pixel Precise HD – Job well done! Heart-racing action scenes appeared distinctly catchy with a bare minimum of judders. Occasional greying did raise it's annoying head now and then, but that doesn't happen always. Now for a few words on figures, this telly has a quoted contrast ratio of 80000:1 with a 3 ms response time and a viewing angle of 176º. The 42PFL7404 looks appealingly glossy and scores a full ten for looks – When has a Philips ever got lesser, eh? Remember the Ambilight Spectra that gave the 42PFL8404 an out-of -the word effect? If you're crazy about that, then you could be very much disappointed, for the  42PFL7404 lacks that magical pool of light that spills out of the telly's sides. Audio is mellifluent, and is taken care of by an 'invisible' speaker system. This best LCD is one of those  rare ones that seem to have everything working, and the price is easy on your pocket too.
