I bought a Logix 37 inch LCD tv 14 months ago , it stopped working after a pop and falsh were seen and heard fom the back of the set last week.
Cant find anyone who can fix this set , my local TV repair man who looked at it said its the power supply board which has failed and blown the minature glass fuse to pieces.
He can not find anywhere to get spare parts for this set , he thinks it a branded name thats sold through Currys which is where i purchased it from but as its more than 12 months old its out of guarantee and can not help , they gave me a number for their TECHGUYS but can never get through hence why i took it to my local repair shop.
Can anyone help with any useful information on spares or repair ? Would be a shame to throw it in the bin for the sake of a printed circuit board.
Thanks.
Having a similar problem. My TV was purchased in Dec 06 and have receipt. Have been told that its out of warranty and that I need to pay £179.99 + parts. When I asked if i could source an independant agent to look at the machine I was given details but as above when I called nobody could look at the TV as its exclusive to Curry’s. I have called Trading Standards who are investigating and also written to Head office Customer services to see where I stand. The store which I purchased the TV from have really only helped in as far as giving me other contact telephone numbers to call. Getting fed up and well miffed that I paid £800 for a TV which hasnt lasted more than 2 years……
Same old story, I have a Logik 32″ tv and the power supply blew about 2 weeks ago. I paid £550+ for the thing just over a year ago. TV repairman fixed it last week, and I’ve come home today to find its blown again!?! Do Logik actually know what they’re doing when making tvs? Everywhere I look on the internet everyone is having this problem right now. Its as though the part clearly has a life span to fit just outside the guarantee so nobody can get their money back!?!
23 months old 37″ Logik TV, power module went, you can only get it repaired through the Tech Guys, as it’s their own DSG brand. Take out there no quibble £ 6.99 a month insurance and “get it exchanged every 364 days, then you will always have a new full 12 month guarantee from the manufacturer also,” IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
same one month after guarentee ran out 800 pounds gone up in smoke logik 32 ” hd tv
same thing happened to me,blue light and a pop noise from theback of the set andit knocked all the electric out i my front room, had endless rows with currys whoare absolutely no help whatsoever!!they said out of warranty so nothing they could do,just told me to ring tech guys, why should i pay or parts and labour on a tv that is 2 years old!!i got it on finance and still have 2 yars of my deal to run with no tv!guess what they aint gettin there money, stopped direct debit!!not prepared to pay for something that is obviously faulty, may try local repair man for the job.will never buy from currys again.
Same old story once again….I bought a Logik 32″ LCD HD and, just 3 weeks after the pathetic 1 year guarantee (I wonder why its only 1 year..) the TV went bang and smoke fizzled out of the back. I contacted numerous Television repair companies, but none wanted to touch it because its not a proper brand. Cuurys didnt want to know, telling me to get it inspected by a professional engineer, at MY cost! I wont say where I told them to go…
GOOD NEWS!!!…..whilst looking for somewhere to complain to, I stumbled upon a company in liverpool called OHM Supplies ( ohmsupplies.co.uk ) who will repair the power board for around £60. Just remove the back of the TV, which is quite simple, remove the power board, labelling the wires, and send it off to them. A bit cheaper than a new Television. My Logik TV has been working for almost 6 months!
I hope this helps someone out
Pass on the word if you can.
Seems my Logik 32″ has gone the same way. 15 months old and supplied by Curry’s. Fuse pops on switch-on, replace the fuse with identical one, blows again. Curry’s are no help at all, usual ‘Out of guarantee mate!’
It’s been interesting and very useful reading the posts here, so thanks everyone for your time and efforts to warn others. I’m going to email Logik/Curry’s, whoever, to seek some answers. Not holding my breath though.
Oh My GOSH……My Logik 32 tv has done the same too….it is one month over guarantee and it blew with a flash at the back….Tv repair man does not stock the parts! Winding me up! Its a lovely TV too….such a shame and a waste of £500!
Hi,
I have a problem with a 4 year old Logik television and am presusing currys.
I have found it intresting that everyone keeps refering to 12 warrenty or Guarantee this 12 months is a sellers way of enhancing their image. infact your are covered under the sale of goods act 1979 for up to 5 years in Scotland and 6 years England and Wales. In fact under current law for the first six months it is the seller who has to prove its not faulty when after the six months its the consumer up to 5-6 years dependant on the location mentioned above. price comes into it also but contact Consumer direct they will advise you on your particular situation
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ and forget the “12 months” if you read company lit it nearly always states “this does not effect your statury rights” ie sale of good act
cheers
hope this helps
John
The same thing has happened to me this morning!!!
Partner and son watching tv, turned itself off and hasn’t worked since. Bought in Feb 2007. CURRYS useless, store staff hadn’t a clue just wanted me out of their store and not to make a fuss. Told a number of their customers not to expect their new TVs to last more than 2 years or to get any help from the store, think they lost a few sales!!
Told by TECH GUYS they no longer repair TVs and to try Yellow Pages for local repair man.
I did get a contact number (only after phoning Currys complains line) for LOGIK 01923471000 but they are only open 9 - 6 mon to fri. Will be contacting them to complain on Tuesday as I expect them to be closed on Mon due to bank holiday. I need someone to take my anger out on.
Further to my post above as logik was dixons etc own make I sent a final letter to the head of the group Lord such and such saying if no refund or compensation is recieved within 7 days I will commence court action without any further comunication from myself. With in 1 hr after sending the email version of the letter I was offered £214 comoensation which is worked out by how much use I had out of the television.
So got money towards new television, I would have recieved more if it had be newer but it was 3 years old. So anybody where it is just out of warrenty should get a good bit more. Remember 12 warrenty is a manufactures ploy to look good to the buyer.
hope this helps
JM
Bought a 32″ Logix on Saturday, the 1080p model and today i have no digital receiver working (analogues fine so is hdmi etc) and the thing refuses to turn off. just displays a ‘turning off, please wait’ message. have contacted customer support, got told they have to ring me back!!? now going to the shop to shout at someone.
Logix are cheap and nasty, better off spending an extra few quid and buying a samsung or LG
All sounds familiar, bought a 32″ logik flat screen from Currys about 2 years ago for £600. Gurantee expired. TV went with a flash and a bang. Had the power pack replaced for £45 but still cannot get a picture, just Logik on the screen. TV repair man says 1 of 3 boards also needs replacing but cannot get parts due to Currys own brand. Contacted Currys, told to get an independant report on fault at my cost and send in to their Sheffield office, then they will decide if it is a manufacturers fault or will give an estimate on repair. Considering having paid out already not prepared to speculate further after reading other reports about Currys. If repairable my total cost could now exceed price of an alternative new one at £300. Will not be using Currys again, basically they do not want to know and obviously have had endless complaints about logik TV’s.
my logik lcxw37hd1 tv has blown, just after the gurantee has run out ,I hope consumer watch,is onto this massive con.and please everyone DONT SHOP AT CURRYS
thaks people i wont be buying a logix tv
Interesting read, most comments on here… I have a 32″ Logik TV, I think its the LCXW32HD1 model number… The only time it has broken so far is when I dropped it moving house, which the WhateverHappens cover repaired without an issue. About 2 weeks after it was returned, it stopped working. Plugged a different power cable in, BANG and a horrible smell of burning from the back… Press the power button, it works!
Other than that, the only issues I’ve had are when I’ve left the DVI to HDMI cable plugged into the TV from my PC. Take that out, turn TV on, works a treat
Same here, 2years n a bit, 37″ Logok. Came home to find all fuses downstairs tripped and tv not workin. 3 laptops and main pc, sky+, hdd recorder, xbox360, wii, and more all plugged in.. May cry.
I bought a 30″ LCD Logik tv from Currys 4 years ago. Was fine for about 2 years then it started turning itself off. It would play for a day or two then turn itself off. I would turn it back on everytime until it turned off for good. Paid over £200 to have it repaired by the TECHGUYS. It worked for about six months until it started turning itself off again. Not worth having it repaired again. Won’t be buying Logik again.
