Its a wonder how LG manages to bring home the bacon with an unassuming TV that does not sport the overdose of high-end features that all LCD TVs of today prance around with. The
LG 32LH2000 32” LCD TV – A sublime mix of sugar, spice and everything nice. Well, there's no chemical-X though, but the TV comes across as a winner without any extra-special fairy dust.
We straight away slipped in our old Quarantine DVD – it was quite some time since we got a good scare and we decided to test the LG 32LH2000
with it. Our initial reactions were: wow, blimey and good heavens. The TV took us through the movie skilfully – and by George! We actually felt one with the characters on screen. The movie is pant-wettingly scary, but that's a whole new story. It's the 32LH2000 that shone through out the process. Almost the entire movie is shot in a semi-dark penthouse apartment – the nerve-wracking mood, the dank atmosphere, the shadows under which blood-thirsty diseased lurk were superbly rendered in the 32 inch screen.
The
LG 32LH2000 handles black levels so darn well, every frame kept shouting out that. Switching to
Freeview, the
LCD TV shone there as well, giving us a perfect reception and a spotless rendition. There were barely any picture noises due to the source and we were glad for that. The TV is HD-Ready with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and 30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The TV's design is nothing fancy – it's the usual glossy black finish with sharp edges and an even glossier stand. We have to admit that the design might not make anyone fall flat, but we can vouch for it though – it's straight, it''s simple. Connectivity-wise, there isn't much to complain about – except that there are just 2 HDMI ports. There is a 15pin D-sub port, a PC Audio Input, an RF In and one for LAN, among others.
However, the 32LH2000 does have its negatives. Audio could have been better. The invisible speakers at times make you wonder if they ever exist. Voices tend to sink in at a few places and subtle background scores lack soul. But the TV very well makes up for this with it's seamless pictures.
Verdict:
The LG 32LH2000 LCD TV is a neat package. The reasonable price adds more gleam to this already gleaming telly.
