'Am I in love with my
LCD TV or what!' said my friend Lizzy when I called to ask about the LG 42SL8000 she had. She had been using it for a few weeks and sounded so excited about it. After several minutes of detailed explanations about the picture quality and the movies she watched in it, she hung up with a cryptic “There is this teeny bit of a thing that I'm not happy about, though. But I'm not talking about it!” Thus I set out on an adventure named the
LG 42SL8000 42” LCD TV. The first thing that struck me was, the design. How svelte, how elegant the TV looked! It had this 'borderless design' and a bezel that was artistic, unlike the clichéd glossy ones.
It was then that I came across Bluetooth. Bluetooth? I even did a second take. The
LG 42SL8000 Full HDLCD TV supported Bluetooth. I rather enjoyed this, for I could transfer photos and music from my mobile phone to the 42SL8000. The TV has a full HD resolution and a huge quoted contrast ratio of 150,000:1. It houses TruMotion 200Hz system, meant for flicker-free high speed scenes. It did work, a game of soccer was rendered with clarity and apt detailing.
Black levels are the best that I've seen in an LG LCD TV and HD looked sharp and had a punch to it. And audio is very effective, again the best I've experienced in any LCD TV so far. And
HDMI inputs are an ample 4 and there is a
USB port that can handle quite a lot of video formats including DivX HDand WMV. The 42SL8000 reproduces colours most faithfully, in their most vibrant form. And yes, I mus tell you that I watched a Blu-Ray movie, The Reader in the 42SL8000 and my, the picture looked so stunning, just like in a movie theatre. This is where this TV impressed me the most. Overall, a one of a kind LCD TV. Lizzy was right. But I never did find anything negative about it that she did. Weird. But it only means one thing: maybe you could find it lacking in some aspect. But that wouldn't make it any lesser.
