LG 42LH3000 LCD TV

lg 42lh3000 LG 42LH3000 LCD TVAn under £500 42” LCD TV? Are you kidding me?” This is how I went when I initially laid my hands on the LG 42LH3000 42” LCD TV. I mean, it’s not everyday that you come across a large-screen LCD TV with a sub- £500 price tag, is it? And when the brand is also one that’s won a lot of accolades in the past, things definitely get interesting. When you first look at the 42LH3000, you tend to take a second take of the price tag, maybe even call someone over to make sure that the tags haven’t been switched or anything. Such is the design. Even to the eyes of an ardent glossy-black-finish booer (such as I), the TV can be one heck of a good-looker.

The LG 42LH3000 HD-Ready LCD TV has just HDMIs, which does not come as a surprise, in spite of the screen size, given the low cost. There also is a USB port, so you can do all your multimedia thingies. Blu-Ray movies are a neat package, LG does not compromise with this. But motion handling has definitely taken a beating, after a particular point of time, the irritating flickers around the characters get to your nerves. The contrast ratio quoted is a meager 50,000:1and LG visibly struggles to achieve even this.

As far as colours are concerned, the 42LH3000 is a treat to the eyes, and HD sources are more so. Striking and sharp, the LG 42LH3000 is a down-right winner when it comes to HD rendition. Audio reflects the LCD TV’s low cost again – inadequate and dull, the invisible speakers do not do the trick. This Full HD LCD TV takes Freeview seriously and it shows. You can pretty much sit back and enjoy the Freeview channels without the need to fiddle with the remote control. The LG 42LH3000 LCD TV can be just perfect for someone looking for a low-priced 42 incher – but on one condition: He should be partially blind.
