The minute I clapped eyes on the LG 19LU4000 19” LCD TV, I sat up straight and shook off all the languor associated with the holiday season. I seriously wanted to leave for the day and bury my head in a warm pillow after a cup of hot tea. Oh well, not everything in life turns out exactly the way we want it to be, right? So here was this LCD TV staring at me from its white frame and I thought, “Life’s not so bad after all!” For one, the TV looks simply stunning. It even wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that I’ve never seen such a good looking 19 incher. The white finish isn’t in the least bit gaudy; it actually isn’t pristine white, but rather a delicious off-white shade.
But it’s the stand that is most impressive. Highly glossy, the lower edge of the frame bends elegantly to meet the slightly angled neck. A fine piece of craftsmanship indeed. The 19LU4000 is an HD Ready LCD TV with a 1366 X 768p resolution and a quoted contrast ratio of 8000:1. The next most striking aspect after the looks is the audio quality. The LCD TV has an SRS Trussurround system which gives it the winning edge sonically. Music and voices sound clear and uncluttered, which is pretty rare for a TV of such a size. It is here that the Clear Voice 2 Technology makes its presence felt.
Visually, the LG 19LU4000 LCD TV performs well, if not striking. Freeview channels have a decent rendition and HD sources are delivered with clarity and attention to detail. The brighter colours appear a little over-saturated, though, so you might have to tweak the controls now and then for the perfect viewing conditions that’ll suit your taste. The TV is well connected, with 2 HDMIs and a USB 2.0 port speaking for it. The LG 19LU4000 is one fine TV, which has a lot going for it.
