Before we begin this review, it must be said that Sharp has improved a great deal in terms of picture quality and black level response with its range of
LED Televisions. The fact that Sharp has opted to stick to Full Screen
LED backlights, where LEDs are placed all over the screen in rows is also appreciable, because Full Screen LED backlights
are obviously better than edge-lit LED backlights. That said, the
Sharp Aquos LC46LE600E 46” LED TV has respectable black levels and contrast. This TV is Full-HD 1080p, that is it has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. So the LC46LE600E does not have any problems in rendering HD sources with the best of clarity and depth.
To talk about figures now, this
HD-ready LED TV claims to have a Mega Contrast and a brightness level of 459cd/m2. Standard definition just does not seem perfect in this Sharp LED TV, but it is the high speed action sequences that have taken quite a visible hitting. But then, what with the TV's overall picture quality and it's oh-so-elegant, well-crafted looks, the pros very well outweigh the cons. Sharp has also given some thought to eco-friendliness, and has gone all the way to give this series some Eco Features. Sharp also claims that this TV uses energy that is 40% lesser than that of traditional LCD televisions.
Again, it's in the connectivity aspect that this TV lacks – there are only 3 HDMIs
where you might well expect 4 along with the 2 SCART inputs. Audio is a passable aspect, with voices and music sounding pretty decent. But bass leaves a lot to be desired, though. This 46 incher from Sharp's LED TV range costs you well over a grand. If you're ready to spend a few quids more, you could also take a look at the
Samsung UE46B6000VW before you make up your mind.
