Samsung Electronics is planning to invest about 100 million euros in a plant in the Slovakian small town of Galanta, according to a press release from the company on Friday. This plant, situated 50km east of Bratislava is presently producing plasma and LCD panels including laser printers among others. Samsung had previously indicated that they plan to increase the production of LED TV screens and also begin the mass production of 3D LED and LCD TV screens in 2010.
Samsung will supposedly create an additional 200 new jobs to the existent 3000 by the end of October this year. Also, 700 employees of the plant will be apparently retrained. According to AFP, Samsung’s Slovak plant has produced over 40 million LCD and LED TV screens, apart from computer screens, DVD players and laser printers. Samsung also operates a plant in Voderady in the Trnava District of Slovakia.
