Philips unveils 9000 LED Pro HDTV series

led-pro-hdtv-lcdtvreviews.org.ukDo the tellies of Philips belong to this world or what? Looking like godly objects, costing like one and performing like one too, their TVs have long been the object of desire for many TV buffs like me. And the fact that they’ve announced a new range of “LED Pro” series is reason enough to rejoice. The specifications look simply terrific - we sure do hope the same is translated on to the performance.

While most of us are still caught in the storm caused by the Cinema 21:9, it appears that Philips has given the new series everything it’s got. The two models 46PFL9704 and 40PFL9704 quote a mammoth contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and come with 5 HDMI ports! Now 5 HDMIs aren’t that common, are they? The LED Pro series have a backlight that consists of over 1000 LEDs that are placed in 224 segments. These segments can be individually controlled to match the content being displayed. Therefore, blacks are blacker than ever before and whites are brilliant.

The tellies come with a horde of other features like the Perfect Pixel HD Engine, Ambilight Spectra 3, 200Hz Clear LCD technology and Perfect Colour technology to name a few. 40PFL9704, the 40″ model will cost about £1799 while the 46″ model, 46PFL9704 will cost £2499 and will hit the markets in December. What perfect timing, eh?
