Over 6 million UK viewers watch Michael Jackson memorial service
Michael Jackson creates history again as more than 6 million UK viewers watched his memorial live across several British television channels on July 7th. Television channels like BBC dedicated two channels to cover the ceremony live from Los Angels. It is also believed that over one billion viewers across the world watched the service, while figures also suggest that it was watched by 31.3 million people in the U.S alone. Also, BBC2’s coverage reportedly won the race hands-down, as being the channel most watched between 8.00 pm and 8.45pm.
British fans of the pop icon flooded Los Angels to be part of the memorial. The service took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the stage was bedecked with photographs of Jackson and the Jackson 5. Michael’s gold-plated bronze casket arrived in a motorcade and was placed in the stage. Jackson’s 11 year old daughter, Paris shielded all her life from the media, paid a tearful tribute to her father. She also sang Jackson’s songs like “We Are The World” and “Heal the world” along with stars on stage.
Big names like Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah, Rev. Ai Sharpton, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson among several paid tribute to Jackson. However, the question ‘Where is Michael buried?’ remains unanswered. Reportedly, Michael’s mortal remains may be laid to rest in Neverland, his former home after being entombed in concrete for fears of being interfered with. Michael Jackson died on June 25, at the age of 50 due to a suspected cardiac arrest. Believed to be one of the largest lunar landowner, Michael has a moon crater named after him.
