Elmo and Big Bird celebrate 40th anniversary with First Lady Michelle Obama

michelle-obama-on-sesame-street-lcdtvreviews.org.ukIt’s been 40 years since the big fat canary bird walked into our TV sets; 40 years since Kermit the Frog sang it’s way into our hearts. Sesame Street is 40 now, and its celebrations galore in the colourful Muppet world. While Google celebrated the 40th anniversary with it’s Sesame Street doodles, Sesame Street indulged in it’s trademark style of inviting a celebrity guest over to chat with the Muppets. The 40th anniversary being a special one, it was First Lady Michelle Obama who was invited to drop in for a visit.

Mrs Obama has created an organic kitchen garden in the south lawns of the White House in an effort to promote healthy eating. According to a report from The Telegraph, she explained to the children and the bright-coloured puppets the ‘logistics of planting and growing’ vegetables.

The First Lady chatted on lightheartedly with the vegetables who were only too happy to shower praises on her. In the three-minute segment, Mrs Obama told Elmo that he would be ‘big and strong, just like me’ if he ate vegetables regularly. Of the Sesame Street experience, Mrs Obama said that it was ‘probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House’.
