Sony Bravia ZX1 LCD TV that was launched a few weeks back is reportedly the thinnest TV in the world at present, although LG has sounded a challenge by announcing a thinner one that would, in a very short time storm the world LCD TV market, if the LG news sources are to be believed.

LG has let out the word that their ‘world’s thinnest LCD TV’ would come in twodifferent sizes; 42 and 47 inches diagonally. The company has revealed that the difference have been effectuated by the engagement of an LED backlight system instead of the conventional CCFL. The company also boasts that this advancement in the application, when blended with the Light Guide Sheet technology (LGS) of LG renders strength to the ultra-slim panels of only 5.9mm thick.

The 42 inch LCD TV panel of the new slimmest LG LCD range weighs only 6.1 kg, as the 47 inch model of the same range weighs just 7.3 kg. The refresh rate featured by the range is also quiet impressive at 120GHz. The display resolution of both the panels refers to 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD, with a remarkable 8ms MPRT.
