Does your son consider his fire-fighting dad a hero? Does he walk around gleefully with his hat, proclaiming to become one when he grows up? Then here is a perfect gift for his birthday – the Hannspree Firetruck 10” LCD TV. Is Hannspree creative or what? This firetruck LCD TV looks so real I tell you – the truck has been designed to perfection. The TV is enclosed inside the red firetruck that sits on silver wheels! There even is a ladder atop the roof of the truck, with a few control buttons in the space between the wheels.
This Hannspree LCD TV sports the same LCD display as that of the Winnie the Pooh LCD TV – the resolution is 800 x 600 pixels and the contrast ratio and brightness quoted are about 450:1 and 350 cd/m² respectively. As far as the picture quality is concerned, this TV is pretty average. Though there is mention of a digital comb filter, problems like backlight bleed, motion blur and occasional flickering keep putting up their ugly heads – which can be a bit annoying at times. Oh well, one can’t expect everything from a fancy LCD TV.
Similar to Pooh, this LCD TV comes with a headphone jack, a 4-in-1 connection, S-Video, composite video and audio inputs. Audio from the 2Watt speakers is a let-down, but that doesn’t bother you much, when even the pictures are mediocre. And yes! The Hannspree Firetruck LCD TV has an attractive designer remote control. It’s shaped like an actual fireman, complete with a smiling face in a hat. Though the design is appealing, this LCD TV makes you end up wondering if you actually paid for the design of the firetruck and that the TV was just an extra attachment!
