For a bloke looking for an average LCD TV with above average recording functionality, there can be no perfect choice than the
Cello C3298FR 32" LCD TV. Such
LCD TVs are hard to come by, so grab a hold of them this Christmas season. The cost is one major attraction, coming at just £450 that too with a built-in DVD player, there cannot be a better haul. The C3298FR must be appreciated for its recording capabilities - there are two SD card slots, which means you can record as much as 7 hours of programmes from the two built-in Freeview tuners, plug in the card in your laptop or video player and enjoy your favourite shows where ever you are.
But then, there aren't any free SD cards provided, for which you will have to shell out another £85. Oh well, atleast the recordings are faithful to the original programmes with no visible glitches in the video quality. Other than these, the
Cello C3298FR HD Ready LCD TV does not have that many aspects worth admiration. The picture quality is very average, colours look mediocre and over-saturated. Black levels are a saving grace, though. The C3298FR renders scenes with a dark background brilliantly without any visible greying.
This 32" LCD TV quotes a meagre contrast ratio of 2,500:1 and has a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution. Sound doesn't sound well. (No pun intended!) Voices sound okay, but bass and music fall flat without any lustre. The C3298FR has two
HDMI ports and the built-in DVD player is capable of playing MP3 and WMA formats apart from CD playback. Another let down is the Cello C3298FR LCD TV's rather clichéd glossy looks. But then, for its recording functionality and the affordable price, this LCD TV could make for a thoughtful Christmas present for anyone who likes to maintain an archive of their favourite TV shows.
