Claiming that reports on Toshiba considering pulling out of the consumer LCD TV business are wrong, the CEO said that the company was doing well in the global consumer TV business.

“There has been some confusion” said he, adding that the LCD business that the media pointed out was their commercial display business. “Our consumer display business is healthy and in the black. The division that they are talking about is a small business that is struggling” said Mr Whittard. The media was abuzz with reports that Toshiba could bow out of the LCD TV business after the company’s senior vice president Fumio Muraoka said that they were eying all options including backing off from the business after suffering heavy losses.
