Visual impairment will prevent six million Brits from watching 3D TV
3D will remain a dream for almost 12% Britons due to visual impairment, according to a study by The Eyecare Trust. More than six million Brits are suffering from poor binocular vision, an impairment that will make it difficult for them to experience 3D entertainment. “About 12% have 3D vision problems and you’ll find a similar percentage worldwide” said Dharmesh Patel, chairman of the trust.
This substantial chunk of population will experience headaches and aches behind the eyes and will see only a blurry image instead of 3D. Also, the 3D glasses will be of no use for these Britons. French computer and video games developer Ubisoft only recently said that it expected every UK home to have a 3D TV by 2013 and that by 2012, nearly half of all computer games will be in 3D.
