Toddler crushed to death by wall-mounted TV
A flat-screen TV fell off the wall, crushing a two-year old kid to death. He suffered severe head injuries and fell unconscious as his father carried him in his arms into the streets crying for help. He was later taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead after suffering a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred in a flat in Basildon, Essex, where the father lived with his girlfriend.
The efforts of paramedics and an off-duty nurse to resuscitate the boy were rendered futile and a personnel from the ambulance service said that he unconscious when they reached him. Neighbours expressed their shock and grief over the tragic accident, and said that it was heart-wrenching to see the little boy in a nappy so badly hurt.
An inquest into the incident is to be held later in the week. Televisions these days have evolved to be as thin as picture frames. It indeed is a question if such advances are for the better. This incident is the fourth of this kind this year, following the death of Karli Watt, a two-year-old in Edinburgh, Emily Hughes in North Wales and Riyaz Ghaazi in South Wales. Emily died when her dad accidentally dropped a television set on her.
