Sony Bravia WE5 Eco TV Range in Sight
Sony LCD TVs seems to have pledged allegiance along with the environmentalists, to save the world by unveiling its new Bravia WE5 range of eco-friendly LCD televisions. The new range comes with Sony’s billing as the greenest ever Bravia, especially for the fact that the Full HD LCDs of the WE5 series consumes less than half the power consumed by their predecessors. It is presumed that Sony has managed it with the engagement of an innovative backlight display called HCFL.
The acronym HCFL stands for Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, and it belongs to the micro-tubular kind. This backlight display is considered as highly energy efficient. Energy is further saved when the television switches of automatically, as it loses the sense of body temperature resulted when the last person leaves the room. The new range from Sony uses its Bravia Engine 3, which is also new by itself, to enhance picture quality. For combating the image blur, WE5 employs Motionflow 100Hz technology.
On the WE5′s eco-benfits, the senior product manager of Sony UK, Christian Brown said that it was an emphatic statement that Sony was serious on cutting the environmental footmark of everyone’s home entertainment experience. WE5 series comes in 40” and 46” display sizes initially, and can be expected by this spring along with some exciting offers.
