Samsung Electronics to kick-start mass production of 3D TV panels
In what could be the start of a new era in the television industry, Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced that it will start the mass production of 3D TV screen panels. The announcement reflects Samsung’s confidence in the technology, not to mention their assumption of a leadership role in the industry. This move of the world’s largest electronics company will definitely lead the way for the rivals to follow suit.
Samsung’s bold initiative could also aid in the cost reduction of 3D LED and LCD TV sets and could fuel the industry’s interest in the technology. According to a release from Samsung Electronics, the company aims to “lead the global 3D TV panel market in pioneering mass production of 3D-capable LCD and LED TVs”. Also, Samsung has initiated 3D LED and LCD panels of 40”, 46” and 55” screen sizes.
Samsung further added that they have succeeded in developing screens that would render pictures with “exceptional clarity” by diminishing response times to under 4ms. At the CES this year, Samsung not only showed off its super-thin 3D capable LED TVs, but a complete 3D home entertainment system as well.
