Philips Will Launch a Super-Widescreen Cinema LCD TV

January 17, 2009

philips cinema screen lcd tv Philips Will Launch a Super Widescreen Cinema LCD TVLondon: Philips is all set to launch an LCD television with an image aspect ratio of 21:9, instead of the traditional 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. On its launch, this LCD TV would come with the unique distinction of the first cinema-proportioned television of the world. This aspect ratio of the television would precisely match the digital TV broadcast signal shape, though it would not be exactly proportional to an average blockbuster of Hollywood. However, this aspect ratio would at least promise the disappearing of the black bars that at times, adorn the top and bottom ends of a normal screen.

The LCD television would come featuring Philip’s Ambilight technology and the same processing software sported by its other high-end models. The LCD display of this TV would measure 56” diagonally.

Although, Philips has chosen January 29 for the release of the TV in the UK, no word on its price has been let out, until now.
