LG announces LCD HDTV ranges
LG has unveiled two new LCD HDTV ranges – the SL80 and SL90. At just about 1.8 inches deep, the SL80 uses a CCFL backlight system and has a dynamic contrast ratio of 150,000:1. It features TruMotion 240Hz for clear high-speed action. It comes is in 42, 47 and 55 inch models and has invisible speakers that come with Mark Levinson tuning. The SL90 on the other hand has LED backlight system with local dimming and comes in 42 and 47 inch LCD TVs.
LED backlighting spells very high contrast ratios, so it indeed is not a surprise that the SL90 comes with a contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1. It has a Super IPS LCD panel with elegant edge-to-edge glass. Apparently, the SL90 has 120Hz technology instead of the SL80′s 240Hz. It is svelte, thanks to the LED backlight and is just 1.15 inches deep.
The SL80 will be cheaper than the SL90, and will be available in August. The prices of these models are not announced yet.
