LCD TV sales increases in second quarter of 2009
According to USA Large Area Display Report by Quixel Research, a market intelligence firm, the sales of LCD TVs in the second quarter of this year has seen a significant quarter-to-quarter increase. It indicated that the LCD television market observed a nine percent rise quarter-to-quarter and a 22 percent year-to-year rise. The report also suggested that small screen models of 22” and those of 32, 40 and 42 inches contributed to the LCD TV sales in Q2.
It was also observed that models of 40 inches and above did not have a significant rise in sales. Infact, figures suggest that they declined when compared to the first quarter of this year. LCD TVs with internet capabilities were seen to have had a significant increase in sales.
Tamaryn Pratt, the principal of Quixel Research pointed out that the unit sales of 42” 720p plasma TVs had a 40% quarter-to-quarter increase as consumers seemed to look for value in the present economic situation.
