LCD TV LCD TV and monitor vendors look at 3Q10 with hopeDepreciation of the euro and limited panel price drops are most likely to cause an increase in the prices of LCD TVs and monitors in the coming months. By August this year, prices are most likely to increase by 7-10% . Industry sources say that this move could result in lesser demand for related products in the second half of this year.

Monitor vendors were worse hit during the first half of this year, with over 8% drop in their revenues. Depreciation of the euro is what is said to be the main cause for the vendors’ woes, an aspect which they were able to dodge through currency hedging during the first quarter. However, the euro’s depreciation only worsened, lending hedging unfruitful. Vendors are apparently hoping for a price increase to bail them out during the third quarter.

The sad news is, vendor’s hopes of rise in demand during the upcoming peak season in the third quarter of this year have been dashed, as so far, there have not been any signs of improvement, according to sources.
