Foldable 3DTV from Samsung

December 6, 2010

“What Next” seems to be the theme of technology in the modern world as the market today comes up with enormous new products and new concepts each day. Samsung would be revealing yet another innovation to the world of LCD TVs.

With a lot of threats already in store for 3DTVs, like the necessity to use 3D glasses, viewing angles and the cost factor, 3DTV is facing a big challenge. Samsung is trying to beat these hurdles and take 3DTV to the next level, with the concept of televisions with special OLED panel that can be folded.

Although the concept needs to be tried and tested, Samsung hopes that concepts like these will flourish in the next 5 to 10 years. The concept was demonstrated at the FDP international 2010 show.

It has always been a battle between portability and large displays in the television world for a long time. Samsung’s foldable concept could serve as the first solution to portability and the joy of huge displays to go hand-in-hand; if the concept succeeds.
