Chrysler unveils live in-car television
U.S. automobile manufacturer Chrysler has unveiled live in-car television is eight of its 2010 model year vehicles. Passengers will now be able to enjoy channels such as ESPN, Fox, ABC, CNBC, Nickelodeon and Disney among others from the comfort of their Chrysler. The automaker has debuted mobile television in their models ahead the much-awaited Chicago Auto Show which begins tomorrow.
Though some vehicles do let passengers play DVDs, Chrysler is the first to offer mobile television is their vehicles in the US. Chrysler’s Pietro Gorlier said, “We are the first automaker in the United States to offer live, mobile TV in more than 100 metropolitan markets” adding that live in-car TV gives customers “The ultimate in entertainment.”
Mobile TV will be available in Chrysler’s 2010 model-year vehicles such as Chrysler Town & Country, Ram 1500, Ram 2500/3500, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Journey, Dodge Grand Caravan and Dodge Nitro for $629 (£402) for a one year contract. Market research and consulting firm iSuppli predicted in 2009 that in-car LCD TV systems will double by 2015 the world over.
