You’ve narrowed down on the brand and even the specific range that has all the features that you are looking for. But the size – you just cannot pin down on one. Remember: screen size plays a major role in determining how good your viewing experience is. A wrong choice and the entire experience could become one sorry dud. How does one go about choosing the right LCD TV screen size? It’s simple, really.

Appraise the distance:
First and foremost, size up the place where the TV will have to be placed. Decide on the position of the TV on the wall (if you plan to wall-mount it). It even would be a good idea to mark its position on the wall, place the couch in the position comfortable for you and check out if the configuration is comfy. The most important aspect is however, the distance between the TV screen and your viewing position. Measure this distance appropriately to come to a conclusion on the screen size.

The viewing distance for an LCD TV of sizes over 58” should be at least 12 feet and a 26 incher requires a minimum distance of at least 6 feet. Being too close or too far from the TV can work against the viewing experience.

If you’re too far, you might not be able to enjoy the full HD experience to the fullest, and if you’re too close, the issues you could come across are manifold, including irritation in the eyes. Bearing these in mind, you must round up on the suitable screen size for your living room.

Placement and the sunlight problem:
You’re all settled on your couch with a bag of popcorn and beer. Rubbing your palms in glee you switch on the brand new LCD TV. Blast! Tearing a gaping fissure right across is a beam of sunlight from the French window. Imagine! After hours of meticulous planning and measuring the darn TV was mounted on the wall and now you’ll have to do it all over again!

Of course, the blinds are always there, but somehow, the presence of the window right behind your couch spoils quite a lot. So here’s what: Watch the window. On a lighter note, ensure that the ice box can be easily accessed. You don’t want to walk miles for a drink in the middle of your favourite programme!
