Simpsons for a slimmer you by Christmas

October 6, 2009

homer-and-bart-lcdtvreviews.org.ukHow about taking a resolution to reduce those extra pounds gained this year? Come on! Leave all that indolence behind and start a new fitness regimen! It’s simple. All you have to do is watch TV. Er..watch The Simpsons, to be more precise. The Department of Health has chosen Homer Simpson for its ‘Change4Life’ health campaign. The campaign began yesterday and will go on till Christmas on Channel 4.

The paunchy Homer will henceforth lay off his chocolate dripping doughnuts and beer and go to work from now on. The Department of Health will be sponsoring episodes that will have the middle class American family following a healthy lifestyle persuading the Britons to do the same. Homer’s pink doughnuts with sprinkles will be replaced by fruit and vegetables and even the ten-year-old bad hat, Bart will support the DoH’s battle against obesity.

With all of us stocking up our refrigerators with goodies for Christmas, the DoH’s television campaign could well lend us sheepish as we poke our heads into the ice box. The Government is reportedly investing £640,000 in the TV ads for the health campaign. Beware folks, when you’re cozily settled with a mayonnaise dripping burger and a bag of potato chips on the couch with a nice movie playing in your hd LCD television, Homer might well end up catching you red-handed and giving you a guilty conscience. Of all people, its Homer advising you on a healthy diet! Now, aren’t you ashamed?!
