philips ambilight The Magic Behind Philips Ambilight Spectra On a lazy Sunday afternoon, just when the sky darkens to an ominous grey announcing the arrival of heavy rains at dusk, you settle down to watch Titanic for the seventh time. Bundled in your warm clothes (the air is getting colder and colder) you settle down in front of the TV and plug in the Blu-Ray player. And yes, let me introduce the TV before James Cameron introduces Jack and Rose. It’s a Philips 56PFL9954H/12 LCD TV that been designed serve as a mini theater at home. Its no run-of-the-mill TV that just hangs there. It has a 21:9 movie aspect ratio, letting you enjoy movies in the format that they were meant to be.

But its the magical glow that emanates from the sides of the TV that holds your attention. Mirroring the shade of the pristine waters of the sea, this glow of light fills your living room, turning it in to the ghostly form of the Atlantic. This glow of light folks, is Philips’s Ambilight Spectra. What makes it so special is that, it can create an illusion that the screen is enlarged by spilling out pools of light from the TV’s sides onto the walls – an illusion that wins more hearts than one.

ambilight spectra The Magic Behind Philips Ambilight Spectra Philips’ Ambilight Technology, according to Philips is a built-in backlight system. The intention is to create a colourful effect in your living room so as to bring about an immersive movie-watching experience. The technology senses the colours in the picture and reflects the same around the TV. This Philips LCD television is brought about by individually controlled LCD modules that are placed on the backside of the panel.

Ambilight Spectra 2 that is incorporated in Philips 8000 and 9600 series consists of LED modules arranged on the left and right hand sides of the panel while Ambilight Spectra 3 that’s incorporated in the Ambilight 9700 Series houses LED molecules in the left, right and top of the panel, adding on to the intensity of the glow. Philips also gives you the reigns to control the speed of the colour change – you can have it change fast or opt for it to change at a slow pace. This is Philips Ambilight Spectra for you – a combination of technology and wizardry.
