A peep inside Sony’s booth at CEATEC JAPAN 2009

October 8, 2009

3d-tv-lcdtvreviews.org.ukCEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies) 2009 is here! The electronics trade show where leading brands display their latest innovations, products and services planned, began at the Makuhari Messe convention center, Chiba city on October 6th and will go on till October 10th. In this event that is most awaited by industry experts and consumers alike, Sony is apparently screaming ’3D’ through and through.

Once you enter their booth, you are greeted by the banner “Sony is bringing 3-D in reach of families in 2010″ promulgating the company’s plans to commercialize 3-D TVs by next year. Sony’s booth focusses on themes such as “3D entertainment”, “Network Field”, “Display Technology”, and “Ecology”. In 3D Entertainment, there will be demonstrations of Sony’s latest ventures into the world of 3D technologies. There is also a display of 3D compatible “BRAVIA” LCD TVs that are scheduled for a 2010 launch. My, these TVs appear to be the work of a chef-d’oeuvre. All it takes is a special set of glasses and you get to enter the virtual world and be one with the characters.

In the “Network Field” section, Sony is highlighting the advantages of the interoperability between its products like TVs, VAIO and Blu-ray discs. In the “Display Technology” section, there will be demonstrations of a few technologies like High frame rate “MotionFlow” and also on technologies planned for the future. A highlight of this section is the 2.5inch OLED display that is amazingly thin at just 0.2mm. This is just a prototype, though. The “Ecology” theme will focus on demonstrations of the “presence sensor” that can supposedly turn the screen on and off according to the presence of viewers in the room. Groovy, eh?
