Marley & Me Reviewed With Philips 56PFL9954H LCD TV

Marley & Me Reviewed With Philips 56PFL9954H-lcdtvreviews.org.ukI have always stayed away from movies made from the written form. Somehow, no matter how hard a director tries, the complete essence of a book can never be captured. Atleast, that’s what I feel. Having shied away from all the Harry Potter movies(I’m a huge fan of the books, mind you!) Marley & Me is my first movie based on a best-seller. The movie is based on an autobiography by John Grogan, an American writer. I watched the movie with my brother in our Philips 56PFL9954H LCD TV. To be honest, the TV was the first thing that attracted me rather than the movie. This TV has an extra-wide screen and a jaw-dropping aspect ratio of 21:9, and was supposedly best suited for movie watching at home. I settled next to my bro, thinking “Okay, lets see what you got”, and yes I meant the TV and the movie.

The first thing that caught my eyes was – the extra wide screen of the television. “Wow!” I thought, “I’ve never seen a TV like this before.” I started “Hey, this TV….” only to be shushed by my brother – the movie had just begun. In a nutshell, the movie revolves around the life of John – a man just like any of us, dreaming of doing something big in life – like working for the New York times, his wife Jenny  who sticks to him through his ups and downs and even gives up her job, to take care of the kids and his huge rackety dog Marley.

Oh, God, I moaned. This is going to be one of those cliché feel-good movies where life has its tough moments, but in the end, everybody lives happily ever after. I even considered going back to reading. But the TV had my eyes glued to the screen. What fine picture! No black bars! So I found myself immersing into the movie before I knew it.

Marley & Me Reviewed With Philips 56PFL9954H-lcdtvreviews.org.ukMarley is John’s comrade through thick and thin. At his side during difficult times – career hangups, relocation, unplanned pregnancies and marital crises, Marley, in his own doggie ways teaches how important love is and how much fun life can be. Though I was bent to criticise the movie right from the beginning, it did have me relaxed and cheered. I have to mention that the Ambilight Spectra 3 system of the 56PFL9954H had me spellbound! Pools of light spilled from the sides to match the colour of the scene being played. Now, I had never seen that anywhere. It took the TV to a whole new level. Audio was good too – the result of Virtual Dolby Digital sound effect system and built-in subwoofers. Later on, I discovered that this TV has several convenience features like Favourite programme selection, Auto Volume Leveller, Graphical User Interface and more!

I must say Wilson and Aniston did look their affable best in the 56” screen of the telly. John gets an opportunity to start his own column about his life with Marley in the centrestage – it becomes a huge hit and John’s editor offers to pay him double. Oh well, it did make me happy. Wilson’s expressions, especially in the final scene will give a field day for his critics. Yes, I did think of Bottle Rocket sadly. A cocktail of tears, emotions, doggie shenanigans, mundane events and romance, Marley & Me did not impress as much as the Philips 56PFL9954H Cinema 21:9 LCD TV did.
