Philips, for example incorporated Pixel Plus2 technology which controls light using a sensor.  The process involved is dimming the backlight.  Some of the manufacturers of LCD television use TFT panels to improve the display quality.  It also helps to enhance response time. Samsung and Sony incorporate a different technology called Room Lighting Sensors which is a very innovative one in this context.  Backlight levels will be automatically controlled to make it harmonious with the ambient lighting.  The backlight will be enhanced or lowered to suit the ambience.  The Light Sensors will constantly monitor the intensity of the ambient lighting and make necessary adjustments automatically.

This technology features two basic functions such as Scene adaptive backlight control and Scene adaptive contrast corrections. LG also follows identical techniques to control brightness and enhanced contrast levels of the screen. Other major players in the LCD TV segment also incorporated identical or other suitable technologies to provide comfortable viewing. The core function involves blocking of excess external light reflections and controlling the internal sources of light. Such process helps to enhance the contrast levels.

Various technologies adopted by the LCD TV manufacturers could offer comfortable viewing options to the consumers.  Improved performance of the products helped them to increase the market share in a competitive environment where they had to face challenges from other televisions.  Apart from the comforts offered by the screen, the consumers are benefited by the low power consumption and cost factor of LCD television in the contemporary market.
