Disadvantages
The drawback of HDTV application is that most of the operators do not fully follow HDTV specifications. HDMI or component video cables must be used to support high-definition signals. To view HDTV broadcasts, you must upgrade your TV set as well.
Requirements to watch HDTV
You will need HD Ready TV set, which is either a plasma, LCD or DLP TV set. Or be sure that the TV set you are about to buy contains ‘HD-Ready’ logo. It must have a minimum resolution of 720 lines in wide aspect ratio. Next, you will need a digital TV receiver.

A friend of mine has been enquiring about flat screen tv’s. He has stumbled across the terms HD ready and HD TV. As far as I can make out HD ready is the minimum requirement 720 lines (or is it). True HD tv starts at 1080 lines very confusing!
All the flat screen tv’s I have seen in people’s homes seem to show an inferior picture to my Sony normal crtv. And as for tv show rooms forget it!
Perhaps some one could come out with a plain English guide.
