LG Joins the league of LED TVs!

lg LG Joins the league of LED TVs!With LCD TVs with LED backlight systems spreading like wildfire these days, LG joins the game too. LG has launched the 55LH95 and 55LH93 LCD TVs with LED backlight system. LCD TVs with LED backlights have very high contrast ratios - the result of the LED lights behind the screen which can be individually controlled as per the scene being played. So darker shades seem to be darker, as the LED lights behind the darker portion of the scene can be switched off. LG claims it’s LED TVs will have a massive contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, 55” screen and a refresh rate of 240 Hz.

The good news is that, the screen is just 2.5 cm thick! So, a TV as slim as that with such high contrast ratio is bound to provide high-quality images and that is what LG promises. These LED televisions might cost a bomb and according to LG, these televisions are targeted at the high-end section and the televisions have about 3,360 LED lights, which is 7 times the number of that of it’s competitors. LG has also announced that 42” and 47” models are under plan and has also indicated that over 35% of their LED TV market might change over to those with LED backlights by 2011.

The sad part is that, there is absolutely no clue as to when they will be launched in the UK. Even then, LED TV line-ups from LG is indeed exciting. Let’s just hope for a word about a UK launch.
