Hannspree's LCD TVs always seem to be trying hard to impress. Too bad that they don't know that a perfect TV does not need to try to impress – it simply does with no visible effort. The
Hannspree HT11 19” LCD TV has more cons than pros, BUT, one aspect of it could well outweigh all else. We're talking about the cost. Priced at just £130, this LCD TV appears more attractive than it actually is. Lightweight and compact, the HT11 can easily be moved around the house. It lacks a widescreen aspect ratio though, which could bother some.
One of the main disadvantages of this compact LCD TV is that, the ports are awkwardly located in the panel's underside, which makes connecting wires really uncomfortable. Coupled with a remote control that appears to be designed for the use of children, using the Hannspree HT11 is a breeze. The TV has a resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels, a quoted
contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness level of 300 cd/m². The connectivity line-up is pretty decent, with an HDMI port, a VGA port and SCART as the highlights.
Even though provided with a digital tuner, the Hannspree HT11 cannot boast about it. These
LCD televisions UK failed to deliver during our trials, either the reception was poor or was completely absent. Pictures suffer from irritable backlight bleed from the sides and corners and motion handling isn't worth even talking about. As a PC monitor, though, the HT11 could do well. Audio is poor as well – no surprise. Tinny and far from mellifluous, it does get to your nerves at times. In spite of all this, the Hannspree HT11 is rescued big time by the low cost. It cheap, compact, and is um, good, but not good enough.
